Nancy Brown’s diary entries from September 11 – 20, 1921


Sep 11 – Guy Summer and family and Mrs Barber called on way to Oak Grove.[1] Also Mr and Mrs ___.

Sep 12 – I washed. Ethan[2] to Burg. Got hair cut, groceries and oven Bess[3] sent.

Sep 13 – Gladys Doyen came for me with car 9-30 after lunch after dinner. Mr & Mrs D– Mrs ____ & Helen & I drove to Paw Paw. Came home via Lawton.

Sep 14 – Blue all day. Ethan began cutting corn yesterday.

Sep 15 – Ethan to Kazoo[4] this P.M. to see “Way Down East” ____ theatre.

Sep 16 – Helens[5] first letter in ____ thing came to day was real good. Pearl Silverman here this P.M.

Sep 17 – Ethan to Burg[6] this P.M. Nellie Stanford died 5-15 P.M.

Sep 18 – Caroline Clark[7] left for ____ colledge this A.M. Ethan & I alone all day.

Sep 19 – I washed. Ethan to Kazoo. Finished probating. He & I went over to Harrys in after noon. Arthur & Kent came.

Sep 20 – Hannah[8] phoned cant come home to day. Has rained so. Charly & Frank visiting Jims[9] & Lous.[10] Nellie funeral to day funeral 2 P.M.
