Nancy Brown’s Diary Entries from August 11-16, 1921

Aug 2 – Claude,[1] Eda[2] and I went to Oconomowac Wis had dinner in Milwaukee. Went in new car. “Moon” Curaso[3] died in Naples.

Aug 3 – We went to Geneva Lake. Stayed all night.

Aug 4 – Home from Wis trip a dandy time. Went to Riviera in evening. Edgwater Beach Hotel for dinner. Stayed to Claudes all night.

Aug 5 – At Claudes. Lou,[4] Lela[5] & Helen, Jean,[6] Martha[7] & Mr Dee[8] here for dinner. I went home with them.

Aug 11 – Robert[9] went to Mich with Harold & Gladys Doyen in their new car.

Aug 12 – Getting ready to go home[10] to Mich. Lou[11] and Carol[12] _____ _____ home to day.

Aug 13 – Lelas birthday. Claude took me to ten A.M. train. Ticket to Kzoo[13] 5.53. Robert, Carol and Harold D– there to meet me. ” [Harold] took us home. Found Lou there.

Aug 16 – Robert painting old wagon red.

[10] Nancy, as well as her siblings, even though they lived elsewhere, referred to the Keith family farm where Ethan and Hannah lived, as “home”

[11] Nancy’s sister, Louese (Keith) Harris

[12] Louese’s granddaughter, Carol Boyer
